Welcome to East Kilbride Rugby Football Club!
EKRFC is part of East Kilbride Sports Hub. We have two pitches at Torrance House, the main pitch is floodlit.
We run two senior teams, and an Under 18s team, and information about all of them appears on the senior website – click here.
The junior section is called the Academy and runs teams from P1 up to and including the Under 18s. The Academy has its own website which can be found by clicking here.
Our first XV plays in Tennent’s West Regional Leagues Division 1. Our second XV plays in the Tennent’s West Regional Reserve League Division 1 and we hope to field a third XV this year in Division 3 of the Reserve Leagues.
The S1 to Under 18 teams in the Academy all play in the SRU’s Brown Conference (the Under 16s won their league in 2016). The P1s to P7s play friendly and tournament rugby.
All teams play at the Torrance House Arena (on the Strathaven Road) in East Kilbride. Senior training (including the U18s) takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings from mid June through to April each year (changed and ready to start on the pitch at 7pm). A physiotherapist is available at the club every Monday evening for rugby players.
The Club is always on the look out for more players, at all levels, so if you want to give rugby a “try” (a deliberate pun, sorry!), please use the contact form to get in touch with us.
Brief History – EKRFC was formed in 1968. We first started playing games in the grounds at Hairmyres Hospital, and socialising in the Stuart Hotel. We moved to Calderglen Country Park in September 1970 and have been here ever since as one of the largest sections in the East Kilbride Sports Hub. Throughout this period, there has been a wide range of success, and some superb individual player achievement.
Play international rugby via East Kilbride….. EKRFC has proved that you can reach the highest levels in Scottish Rugby by playing for EK. There is no better example than Alasdair Strokosch who played at all levels of rugby in EK, starting with the Minis, and moving on to professional rugby. He won 47 caps for Scotland before retiring in 2015.
EKRFC enjoy competitive rugby but always find time for the social side as well. We first visited Club Olympique Chalonnais in Chalons en Champagne in France in 1981. We have been playing and socialising with each other ever since. 2016 saw the 36th visit between the clubs, while 2011 saw Chalons celebrate their centenary, with EKRFC’s help.
